45 Spiders 05:15
45 Spiders {45 spiders on the wall ~ all in a day's work} 4x Oh, hurry, dirty sundown You really got a hold on me I'm halfway home And here come the hell hounds I've got eyes to avoid like a plague of mirrors And no eyes to meet Old black dog And cracked cathedral bell sounds {45 spiders on the wall ~ all in a day's work} {Down, down, down} 2x Late at night the devil speaks Imagination springing leaks Shadows of madness Down in the cracks Marking time until the spider eggs hatch {45 spiders on the wall ~ all in a day's work} 2x {45 spiders} 2x Calling out around the world From the dirt beneath my name Brand new blood In fields of abandon Oh, clock me out, dead man So weary of the beast Closing in, forever expanding {Down, down, down} Baby, don't do it {Down, down, down} Don't you break my heart {45 spiders on the wall ~ all in a day's work} {45 spiders} {45} 3x {4...} 2x {Blood} 10x {All in a day's work} 3x ©2020, Scott Hrabko

Last Dance 04:07
Last Dance Oh, bastard of ceremonies The scourge of stage and screen And his subjects buzzing around him In a frenzied fever dream Some other anthem turns like a worm In the darkness of his brain Some other flag Flapping madly in a hurricane (Let it rain) Oh, Jesus Christ, thrice denied And sold out for chicken change Revenant goons have called the tune Like they had it all arranged Gatling guns to kingdom come And the crackling blood of the lamb Our better angels better come on down Things have gotten way out of hand (Last dance) In the glow of your lonely devices Where the shadows perform You're gonna sleep with one eye open And rue the day you were born (Last dance) ©2020, Scott Hrabko

about

A bit of a departure ...

For some time now, ideas for dance/experimental rhythms have been knocking (in syncopation!) on the doors of my dreams, with a growing sense of urgency. Eventually I had no choice but to heed the call, so I got busy and recorded this EP.

I hope you have as much fun listening -- and maybe even dancing -- to these songs as I had, making them. One or two did make me dance, but there were no witnesses.

In this time of social distancing I played all of the Rabbit parts except as noted below, with my friends, Chris Tady (in person, pre-pandemic) and Jason Beers (via remote).

My son, Sam Hrabko created the beautiful image on the cover.

about

Scott Hrabko Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City's Scott Hrabko is an independent singer/songwriter who has followed his own mercurial muse since the town's late- 80s indie rock scene.

“Hrabko’s rootsy songs are filled with trap doors, hidden nooks, and secret passageways. They’re like those dreams within comfortably familiar houses that suddenly have brand new rooms.”
Mike Warren - No Depression
