Well, I'm rolling around in the red clay dust
Fighting with her ex-boyfriend
Chickens in the yard
And broken down cars
And a couple of scuffed-up men

I stopped his mouth with a lucky left
Ruffled up the side of his head
But nothing seemed to affect him
It was like he was already dead
And I reckon it was something you said

Well, you said something wrong
20 years ago
Now you can't get it out of your mind
Replay the down from the spot of the foul
Half the distance to the goal line
Penalty flags are flying
Pigs are piling on
I can't get up to save myself
Something must be terribly wrong
So I wrote a little song
